A spokesman for Channel 4 has concluded that Gogglebox 'no longer fit the requirements' and 'was milked by the channel'. A new replacement segment in 'TFI Friday' called 'ChrisBox' is set to replace the once loved show. Channel 4, the broadcaster of the popular show 'Gogglebox' has announced, in a press statement, that the once popular show 'Gogglebox' is no longer to be produced. In a statement, Kirk Lindell, Channel 4's director of programming stated "Gogglebox no longer fit the requirements audiences wanted in the popular timeslot on a Friday night. Channel 4 has seen declining viewership and interest in the show, leading to its cancellation". Lindell added "I would like to thank the viewers and the production team who have worked on the programme. Hopefully viewers will take to loving Chris Evans and his mum in the replacement show". Viewership declined significantly when Steph & Dom (nicknamed 'The posh couple' ) left the show in 2016. It went from 6,000,000 per episode to just under 4,000,000. After Sandra Martin left the show, viewership declined rapidly again to 2,500,000. The last series, broadcast in June only attracted 500,000 viewers, the final nail in the coffin for the once loved show. Channel 4 is going to bring back the popular 90's show 'TFI Friday' with Chris Evans at the helm. It has been revealed the new revamped TFI Friday will feature a segment called Chrisbox, which will be a similar format to Gogglebox, just with Chris Evans watching the shows with his mum, aged 97. Evans has yet to comment.
